ABOUT STREAM

As a music festival of the UNESCO City of Media Arts Linz, STREAM presents contemporary music and pop culture in the context of digitalization.

STREAM FESTIVAL is a dynamic music format that demonstrates its ability to change with the times at every edition. The festival made its debut in 2018 as a three-day, large-scale open-air music event at Urfahraner Donaulände. After the festival was canceled in 2020, the live online festival format Streaming Stream with the program tracks STAGE and TALK was developed for 2021. In 2022, STREAM CLUB was implemented for the first time as a one-day club festival. In 2023, STREAM moved to Linz’s city center around Pfarrplatz as a three-day open-air festival with all three program tracks. In 2024, STREAM returned as a two-day club festival. As a project of the City of Linz / Linz Kultur and the OÖ KulturEXPO Anton Bruckner 2024, STREAM CLUB 2024 was exploring the great Upper Austrian composer and organ improviser in the context of club culture.

The central element of the festival has always been the collaboration with the independent scene. The festival program is created together with numerous partners from the independent and institutional art and culture scene in Linz, as well as in cooperation with Radio FM4 and Ö1.

In 2025, STREAM will return as an open-air festival with a club program from 29 to 31 May.
