STREAM FESTIVAL 2025
STREAM FESTIVAL turns Linz’s city centre into an urban festival site: the STAGE and CLUB programme tracks bring cosy open-air vibes, rousing live gigs and hot club nights that invite you to party and dance until the early hours of the morning: the festival offers a wide range of events for all music fans. The programme is complemented by the STREAM TALK programme, which allows visitors to delve even deeper into the world of music with panels and workshops.
Admission to all venues is free – making it easy to discover the diverse programme.
The heart of the festival beats on Pfarrplatz – where the large FM4 stage provides a festival atmosphere from the afternoon with international acts and local favourite bands. For all club fans, the popular open-air stage in the inner courtyard of the Kunstuniversität Linz will be hosting casual DJ sets from the afternoon with the ‘Daytime Club’. From 10 pm, the programme continues seamlessly in the three club locations Solaris, Stadtwerkstatt and KAPU – until the early hours of the morning.
A new addition to the programme is the Atelierhaus Salzamt. This is where club culture meets art with the exhibition ‘Spill & Bleed – Echoes of the Dancefloor’. The programme of this year’s festival is rounded off by talks at the Atelierhaus Salzamt and the Kunstuniversität Linz and an artist tour of the AI x Music exhibition at the Ars Electronica Center.
STREAM – a versatile festival format in the centre of Linz
As a music festival of the UNESCO City of Media Arts Linz, STREAM presents contemporary music and pop culture in the context of digitalisation.
The STREAM FESTIVAL is a dynamic music format that demonstrates its ability to change with the times at every edition. The festival made its debut in 2018 as a three-day, large-scale open-air music event at Urfahraner Donaulände. Following the cancellation of the festival in 2020, the live online festival format Streaming Stream was developed for 2021 with the programme tracks STAGE and TALK. In 2022, STREAM CLUB was realised for the first time as a one-day club festival. In 2023, STREAM moved to Linz city centre around Pfarrplatz as a three-day open-air festival with all three programme tracks. In 2024, STREAM returned as a two-day club festival. As a project of the City of Linz / Linz Kultur and the OÖ KulturEXPO Anton Bruckner 2024, STREAM CLUB explored the great Upper Austrian composer and organ improviser in the context of club culture.
Collaboration with the independent scene is always a central element of the festival. The festival programme is created together with numerous partners from the independent and institutional art and culture scene in Linz, as well as in cooperation with Radio FM4.
